Hey JD:
Have not posted in awhile...glad to see you're still at it.
Ann can sum things up pretty well...though she can be a tad "mean." I agree with Ann (and you) who do you like in this race and why?
Signed,
Your conscience :-)

Glad to hear from you, C. On Ann, though, if telling it like it is, is “mean”, I guess I have room in my heart for mean people. At least I don’t have to second guess where she’s coming from.
On whom I support: Sadly, I do not have a horse in this race. It’s an empty feeling to a lot of us; that we can’t get behind a candidate with any conviction.
What a pitiful field of contestants, don’t you think? On the Republican side conservatives can’t find a conservative.
Many will argue that Ron Paul is the most conservative, but is he a real conservative. He’s a Constitutionalist, no doubt, but with an alarmingly uncomfortable lack of foreign policy to offer. His pretense that we shouldn’t have sent our military abroad in the first place is empty rhetoric because the reality is we have two theatres engaged in the hot war on terror and fundamentalist Islam. He also wants to go back to the gold standard. It’s a bit late to put that genie back in the bottle. Not to mention his isolationist and protectionist bents.
Issues like these keep Paul at the bottom of the pack and absolutely unelectable. The balance of the Republican field is moderate to liberal. This will ultimately cause a Republican loss in November.
On the Democrat side, we have an African-American and a woman. That’s it! Not two qualified, upright and honest, well-intended citizens, just an African-American and a woman; a combination that makes the left feel all warm, fuzzy and righteous; but blinds them.
So what to do. Sit it out? I’m not capable. I will follow John McCain’s lovely mother’s advice, hold my nose and tender a vote against Hillary.
JD.
If anyone out there would like to comment on what's left of the candidate field, I would love to hear your opinions and post them as well. Just respond in the usual way and I'll post your comments prominently. JD.

THE GOOD NEWS AND BAD NEWS...BARAK, YOU'RE NO JFK
I wanted to toss my cookies as I happened upon Fox News while channel surfing Sunday and caught them asking; “Is Barack Obama the heir apparent to Camelot?” What??!!??! The F@% did I just hear???!
Is BO the next JFK? They continued to ask people in the street hanging outside and peering into the studio windows for lack of a job…or a life?
Seems Carolyn Kennedy had just endorsed Obama with a statement comparing him to her father. It just doesn’t take much to get our lazy-ass press corps lathered up!
Which JFK is the press trying to compare Obama to? Is it the drug addicted, philandering, mob-affiliated, election fixing, string puppet-to-his-dad JFK, or is it the tax cutting, strong-foreign-policy-wielding, defense spending, Commie-fighting, war hero JFK?
I’m sure BO doesn’t want to be compared to the former, but he is the antithesis to the latter version.

MCCAIN - THE YUCK FACTOR!
I don't know about you, but I do not like Senator John McCain! There are several reasons why and I would love to spend the next half hour explaining them to you; but I don’t have to because in her column on Wednesday, Ann Coulter explained them for me. In the interest of laziness, I will give you the link so you can peruse the column for yourself. I’m sure the good Senator is a fine man in many ways, but in many other ways, he is not. Yesterday his own mother told CNN that Republicans will just have to hold their collective noses and vote for him if her son wins the nomination – Yuck! Regardless of what you think of Ms. Coulter, her column is accurate…so suck it up and read.

ANOTHER HILLARY PROMISE, BUT IS SHE REALLY THAT STUPID?
She either talks like this because she’s pitifully and dangerously stupid, for a presidential candidate; or she knows too well the ignorance of her adoring fans!

ELECT ME AND OIL PRICES INSTANTLY DROP, SAYS HILLARY CLINTON IN IOWA
BY MICHAEL McAULIFF
DAILY NEWS WASHINGTON BUREAU
Sunday, December 23rd 2007, 4:00 AM
MANCHESTER, N.H. - Hillary Clinton predicted Saturday that just electing her President will cut the price of oil.
When the world hears her commitment at her inauguration about ending American dependence on foreign fuel, Clinton says, oil-pumping countries will lower prices to stifle America's incentive to develop alternative energy.
"I predict to you, the oil-producing countries will drop the price of oil," Clinton said, speaking at the Manchester YWCA. "They will once again assume, once the cost pressure is off, Americans and our political process will recede."
Clinton argued that former President Jimmy Carter in the late 1970s actually started moving in the right direction toward energy independence, but his successor, Ronald Reagan, "dismantled" that work.
"Because costs were low, people didn't care, didn't complain," she said.
She warned that folks shouldn't be grateful now if oil countries cut prices from near $100 a barrel to $60 or $70, and compared it to trying to boil a frog.
"You put him in hot water, it jumps right out, you put him in cold water and turn up the heat - he's a goner," she said. "We've got to figure out how were going to not be the frog in the cold water anymore."

She will say anything to anybody and promise everything to everybody! But wait! Isn’t the price of oil set by the world’s commodity exchanges from Tokyo to Chicago? Yes, it is.
Hillary says “oil-producing countries will drop the price of oil.” Huh?
The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), which I think she is referring to, actually regulates the production of oil, not the price. If “oil-producing countries” simply moved the price of a barrel of oil up and down, then I suspect the United States, an oil-producing country, would have weighed in by now and lowered the price of oil.
OPEC regulates the production of oil because – Get this you anti-capitalists – supply and demand determine the price of oil! More oil production, lower prices. Less oil production, higher prices.
Since that is the way it works outside of Washington (as in the real world), I’ve got a great idea for increasing oil production. DRILL FOR OIL! Drill for oil in the United States of America!
We’ve got vast oil reserves in Alaska and off our shores where rigs don’t have to stick out of people’s back yards. China is here drilling for oil off our shores, presumably because they understand capitalism better than the buffoons in Washington who don’t want to upset the sensibilities of non-thinking people in their hometowns.
The world’s oil production currently stands at a capacity to produce 85 million barrels of oil per day. That’s it. To increase production by 1 million barrels per day, 1,000 wells would have to increase output by 1,000 barrels a day. That isn’t likely to happen, there’s no incentive. We will continue paying higher and higher prices until we reach a breaking point, at which, well….we’re screwed!
How do you increase production? Drill new wells. Expand oil production in the good ole U.S. of A.
ANWR anyone???

SPECIAL THANKS TO ALL OF YOU!
Thanks to all of you who have sent me emails this past year ........
I must send my thanks to whoever sent me the one about rat shit in the glue on envelopes because I now have to use a wet towel with every envelope that needs sealing.
Also, I now have to scrub the top of every can I open for the same reason.
I no longer have any savings because I gave it to a sick girl (Penny Brown); who is about to die in the hospital for the 1,387,258th time.
I no longer have any money at all, but that will change once I receive the $15,000 that Bill Gates/Microsoft and AOL are sending me for participating in their special e-mail program .
Or from the senior bank clerk in Nigeria who wants me to split $7 million with me for pretending to be a long lost relative of a customer who died intestate.
I no longer worry about my soul because I have 363,214 angels looking out for me.
I no longer use cancer-causing deodorants even though I smell like a water buffalo on a hot day.
Thanks to you, I have learned that my prayers only get answered if I forward e-mail to seven of my friends and make a wish within five minutes.
Because of your concern I no longer drink Coca-Cola because it can remove toilet stains.
I no longer can buy gas without taking a man along to watch the car so a serial killer won't crawl in my back seat when I'm filling up.
I no longer go to shopping malls because someone will drug me with a perfume sample and rob me.
I no longer answer the phone because someone will ask me to dial a number for which I will get a phone bill with calls to Jamaica, Uganda, Singapore and Uzbekistan.
Thanks to you, I can't use anyone's toilet but mine because a big brown African spider is lurking under the seat to cause me instant death when it bites my bum.
And thanks to your great advice, I can't even pick up the $5.00 I found dropped in the car park because it probably was placed there by a sex molester waiting underneath my car to grab my leg.
Thanks for all the emails that were written by or about someone famous without checking the story out first on Snopes.com to see if it is an urban myth or only partially true.
If you don't send this e-mail to at least 144,000 people in the next 70 minutes, a large dove with diarrhea will land on your head at 5:00pm this afternoon and the fleas from 12 camels will infest your back, causing you to grow a hairy hump.
I know this will occur because it actually happened to a friend of my next door neighbor's ex-mother-in-law's second husband's cousin's beautician.
By the way....a South American scientist after a lengthy study has discovered that people with low IQ who have infrequent sexual activity always read blogs and their e-mails with their hand on the mouse.
Don't bother taking it off now, it's too late.
- WITH COMPLIMENTS FROM A FRIEND WHO REGULARLY FORWARDS EMAILS TO ME.

MORE ISLAMIC "JUSTICE"
In another example of how the “Religion of Peace” has so prudently meted justice in the Middle East, a Saudi Arabia court sentenced a 19 year old woman to 200 lashes of the whip and six months in prison.
The woman’s crime? She was “alone with an unrelated man” when they were abducted and she was raped by seven men.
That’s right! She was gang raped and now must pay the price for allowing herself to be treated that way.
Under Saudi Arabia’s strict reading of Islamic law, she was originally sentenced to 90 lashes. Last week, the Supreme Judicial Council in Riyadh, obviously shocked at how well she was being treated, increased the sentence to 200 lashes and six months in prison.
Where are the Libs who complain ad nausea about the possibility of a terrorist being water boarded???
No uproar about this being “cruel and unusual?” As usual, the left is silent on this one. But I suppose we can’t denigrate the Religion of Peace!?

IF IT PAINS YOU TO BE INFORMED - VOTE CLINTON
Is Hillary Clinton one of the biggest bull shitters this world has ever seen? She sure is, and legions of uneducated, screaming and adoring toadies kneel at her feet slurping up every nonsensical promise and outrageous statement she makes.
Fortunately for her (and unfortunately for us), there is no shortage of people unwilling to do a little fact checking or to ask a tough question; in other words, unwilling to “do the math.” The obvious consequence being she says, and gets away with saying, any idiotic thing she likes. Outlandish statements about the state of affairs and outlandish promises with no detail attached.
Such is the “ignorance is bliss,” duhhhhh-like life of a Clinton supporter.
To wit: According to cbsnews.com, she is claiming her plan to tackle global warming will create 5 million new jobs. Besides the obvious lack of explanation for how this might happen, she (woops!) fails to crunch any numbers for us about how many millions of jobs will be lost to government intervention and suppression of free markets in her quest to tax our way into living on a planet that will survive the certain inevitable holocaust caused by an unchecked George W. Bush. (Every bad thing, real or imagined (or lied about) for the foreseeable future, will be blamed on W with the total complicity of the leftstream media; at least until the next unfathomably evil Republican checks into the White House.)
Parts of her plan include reducing greenhouse gasses by 80% from 1990 levels by 2050 and cutting imports of foreign oil by two thirds by 2030.
So she wants to cut imports by two thirds in roughly 22 years? But not by drilling off our shores like China drills off our shores, and certainly not by disturbing two percent of ANWR, as proposed, to tap a vast oil reserve that would almost certainly relieve us of some dependency on foreign oil.
She says that global warming is hurting low-income families (whatever that refers to. Define low-income) because one in four has missed a rent or mortgage payment as a result of high energy costs. (Or could it be they missed a rent or mortgage payment because of low income and/or misspent priorities?)
If these people had bought their homes from Hillary and her infamous Whitewater Development Corporation, they would have no equity, would lose their homes and the homes would go back to Hillary to be resold. (For more on how her Whitewater scam worked, see my 6/28/07 post.)
I haven’t heard one challenge from the Democrats on these claims and the press ignores challenges from anyone else.
One thing I do understand and believe is her call for a $150 billion “investment,” called for in her energy package. Investment is political speak for taxes. She and the other Dem candidates have all promised a big tax hike for us if they win the White House. Not many people are listening though, and the press doesn’t exactly report that kind of stuff.
In earlier speeches, she said she would pay for her program by ending tax subsidies for oil companies, saying they could afford it with oil at more than $90 a barrel. Look, I’m all for ending corporate welfare across the board. But singling out oil companies? Okay, let’s give them more reasons to not want to do business in the US. I’m thinking just about any country would like to host our oil industry and all the taxes and jobs that come with it. Let’s give oil companies even less incentive to produce to capacity in this country!
And now for a little icing on this disgusting cake. The Clinton campaign on Friday admitted to planting questions in the audience at a Newton, Iowa rally. Apparently, they like to coach audience members before the Q&A sessions on what to ask Mrs. Clinton. And what would the first question be? According to Grinnell College student Muriel Gallo-Chasanoff, she asked, as coached, “As a young person, I’m worried about the long-term effects of global warming. How does your plan combat climate change?” I guess Hillary figures if real people don’t want to hear how brilliant she is about her solutions to climate change, then she can just plant someone to ask the questions she would like to answer.
She’s all class, isn’t she?!
JD.
Ps. For the record: I don’t see a Republican candidate that excites me in a good way either. Nor do I see one (yet) who lacks basic decency like this woman does!

NO! TO GIRLY GIRLS FOR PREZ
Hillary is hiding behind skirts, ironically, while the rest of the Democrat field is pummeling her, not only on her record, but her flip-flopping and gaffs when under pressure. It’s not too often Hillary gets asked hard questions under pressure, but during the most recent Democrat love fest…er, debate, the moderator hit her with a question about whether she supports Governor (Elliot) Spitzer’s attempt to give illegal aliens drivers licenses.
This wasn’t even a tough question, but it is for a Democrat at this stage of the game. Democrats restrict their appearances to sympathetic audiences and interviews such as with the “press” corps of ABC, NBC and CBS. Or with CNN (Clinton News Network?), MSNBC (what Bernard Goldberg describes as “The witness protection program of networks,” for its lack of viewership) and CNBC. So committed are they to dodging challenges, they have collectively refused to debate, thus far, on The Fox News Channel. How cowardly is that?
She squirmed, sputtered and folded like an accordion under the pressure. She is usually served softball questions that concern one of the many, many giveaways she promises on a regular basis, pretty much to whatever group she is addressing. This time, she forgot that Americans, by an overwhelming majority, are tired of illegal immigration.
Caught by a question she hadn’t rehearsed for that day, she was seen spewing her flip-flopping, pandering reflexive pablum. Her absolutely and insanely unintelligible response drew rapid fire from the other contestants on the stage. The balance of the evening was laced with assaults from Obama, Edwards and Dodd.
Hillary’s response? She’s complaining about the “all-boy’s club of presidential politics,” and her campaign produced a video called “The Politics of Piling On” after the debate. Egad! No kidding! The boys on the field are picking on her!
If she thinks Obama, Edwards and Dodd are tough, what the hell is she going to do when she has to deal with real men? I mean guy guys who have fought their way through real lives instead of feeding at the eternal government trough?
How is she going to deal with mean men, like the ones that head up the vast majority of countries in this world? Even creepy little mean men like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad? How on earth would she deal with guys like W who don’t put up with anyone’s shit?
Of course, Bill came to her rescue blaming the boys for beating up on her in the proverbial school yard. Her opponents took after him too. Bill’s one of those guys who is really tough when surrounded by his group of sycophants (all people just as individually weak as him), but isn’t worth a tinker’s damn when mano a mano. It’s easy to pick these guys out because they’re usually the ones who get off picking on girls. And anyone who cares to open their eyes knows Bill is a bully with the girls. To listen to them, he has sexually harassed them in any way one can imagine, including rape.
Anyway, Hillary’s opposition smells blood and one of her key vulnerabilities will continue to be her tendency, much like her husband’s, of slipping into victimhood. Bill got away with it because he’s a girly guy. But the electorate has a definite intolerance for girly girls.

I'M NOT A "VICTIM" OF SURVIVAL
With the advent of baby boomers entering retirement age, the media focus, not to mention consumer regulatory focus, appears to be on the scores of millions of new people who have entered “victimhood” status. Now it can be assumed that anyone turning 50 and receiving their coveted first AARP card in the mail is now a protected class of victims. There goes the neighborhood…again!
Being in that age class, I’m embarrassed at the number of people I know (pretty much all of them who’ve turned 50) who snatch up that membership card with a certain giddiness. They pay their dues happily to get a ten percent discount on a cup of coffee to drink while they read the inevitable and unstoppable barrage of junk mail heaped upon them.
I don’t know of one of them who have bothered to find out what AARP is. Apparently it doesn’t matter as long as it strokes folks’ senses of entitlement.
AARP is a shamelessly liberal gim’me organization that boasts its powerful lobbying status. Formerly the “American Association for Retired Persons,” AARP dropped the name and stuck with the acronym when they realized there were millions of baby boomers to sucker into making it the second biggest organization in the United States, behind the Catholic Church, and the country’s most powerful lobby.
AARP is good at marketing its ideas to the over 50 and stupid crowd, such as opposing President Bush’s social security reform plan.
The reform plan would have allowed people to volunteer up to five percent of their social security payments to private investments. That would have given anyone who chose to participate, control of up to five percent of their social security taxes. Politicians and AARP dopes like to call these taxes “investments.”
For the first time in the history of the program, people could have had control over how their money was invested. They also would have “owned” that money. That means the money they controlled would not be part of the social security disaster, the fund that does not exist. Up to five percent of someone’s forced contributions would actually belong to THEM! What a concept! So radically sensible that AARP couldn’t stand the thought of some of their members having some freedom and being five percent less dependent on government.
They did a grand job of trashing the idea simply by telling their membership it was bad. I wonder how many members bothered to look any further than their most recent junk mailing on the subject from their AARP leaders. No problem spending money on one of their affiliates’ life, health, prescription or long term care scams, though.
To the 35 million members of the second biggest organization in the country, it was a lockstep non-decision to oppose the plan. Freedom anyone? Self sufficiency anyone? Nope! It’s sad to think that these 35 million people are all eligible to vote. I do wish most of them would stay home and leave the election process to folks who could pass a simple civics quiz. How about to people who have read the Constitution? Nah, let’s not get carried away.
