GREEN HUMMERS?

This is a Re-post:

"Green is the new Red, White and Blue." There’s nothing cheesier and nothing that can help a group avoid the facts quite like a good slogan. For some reason, if you simply have a catchy, short slogan, any reasonable amount of work on one’s part to justify it becomes unreasonable.

"Save Our Planet" is a popular bumper sticker. I guess just wearing it on your bumper proves that you and the celebrities you worship possess all the wisdom necessary to automatically make it profound. It’s especially profound when you see it on a ratted out 70s vintage clunker that’s spewing farts of black smoke and leaves such a sulfur, burning oil, rotting exhaust stench that you have to pass it on the highway to keep from gagging or passing out from the unholy emissions….or if you see it on a SUV sporting soccer decals or - my favorite - a Hummer!

Some of you are at least as old as I, so you may remember global cooling. In 1975 the New York Times couldn’t find enough ink to scare the hell out of any among the unwashed (and fairly enough, gullible) masses needy enough for sensation to read it, with warnings about how we would soon be under advancing glaciers. Then it was in the 80s that we got to hear a constant drone about the hole in the Ozone layer. This was trapping greenhouse gasses, so the “experts” told us, which were going to wreak imminent hell and unfathomable disaster if we didn’t raise taxes. We supposedly blew the hole in the Ozone with Aerosol cans and such. Now scientists are saying that the hole in the Ozone layer was caused by excessive cooling from the Arctic and Antarctic. (I’m so confused!!) It’s nothing short of amazing how a few short years of research and better science can solve such potentially catastrophic challenges.

As the 90s progressed we saw more and more “proof” of the impending doom we call global warming. Here is a phenomenon that demands raising taxes, weakening the U.S. economy and sacrificing our national sovereignty. That’s OUR national sovereignty. Or, as another solution one idiot recently suggested to me, we should turn off the water while brushing our teeth! That one falls firmly into the ‘I SHIT YOU NOT!!!’ CATEGORY! I guess the non-polluters like China, Russia, India, etc. (you know, the little countries with no industry) need not participate much in the solution.

Global warming made headlines when 1,600 scientists signed a letter warning of the “devastating consequences” of global warming. But the mainstream media left out the part of the story about the 17,000 scientists who signed a petition saying there’s no convincing evidence that greenhouse gases will disrupt the earth’s climate. Another little tidbit of information…if you look at a temperature anomaly chart covering the past 10,000 years, you’ll see that for most of those years the temperature was warmer than it is today. But hell, that isn’t the kind of stuff that sells newspapers or gets seven or eight people tuning into Katie Couric every night!

My favorite author, Robert J. Ringer, long ago observed that “As a general rule, the less a slogan says, the greater the popularity of its basic ‘philosophy’ and the more people to whom it has the potential of appealing.” This part I particularly want to note: “Slogans are used because, to the unthinking individual, they appear on the surface to be interchangeable with fact…the more clever the slogan, the less the crusader need concern himself with facts.”

So, take this as you wish, but if you’re simple enough… Please, “Save the Planet!”

So much to say, so little time before we 'destroy the planet.'

MATTHEWS STILL DREAMY ABOUT OBAMA

Here are some more notably creepy musings by CNBC’s Chris Matthews. You can see by the first and third quotes that he is still dreaming of a love child with Barack Obama. But all three are worth noting in their own disturbing kind of way:

"A speech worthy of Abraham Lincoln....What I personally view as the best speech ever given on race in this coun-try....I think this is the kind of speech I think first graders should see, people in the last year of college should see before they go out in the world. This should be, to me, an American tract. Something that you just check in with, now and then, like reading Great Gatsby and Huckleberry Finn....One of the great speeches in American history."— MSNBC’s Chris Matthews talking about Barack Obama’s speech on race relations, March 18 Hardball.

"This country’s in a rut, on the war in Iraq and pending wars elsewhere in the Middle East, the economy, everything, we’re in a rut. We can’t fix anything, whether it’s Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, we can’t fix our health care system. Nothing’s [been] done since ’65 when we did the civil rights bill. People want something done."— MSNBC’s Chris Matthews during live coverage of the Texas and Ohio primaries, March 4.

JD – Apparently he thinks we should go both barrels into militarism and fascism. We’re not moving fast enough though, by his reckoning.

Host Chris Matthews: "[Barack Obama’s book, Dreams of My Father, is] unique because he’s a politician and not since U.S. Grant has a politician written his own book-"
Radio Host Michael Smerconish: "Exactly."
Matthews: "- and that is refreshing."
Smerconish: "Yes."
Matthews: "And your thoughts here? Did you read the book? Once you read it you have a different take. It’s almost like Mark Twain. It’s so American, it’s so textured. It’s so, almost sounding like great fiction because it reads like us. It’s picturesque. Is that the right word, ‘picturesque’? I think it’s got that quality."— Exchange on MSNBC’s Hardball, March 13.

Apparently, he's still getting that "...thrill [that] goes up my leg."

On another note:

We’re seeing story after news story about the meteoric rise in food prices. But I see little reference to what’s causing the rise -- Ethanol-monomania! Politicians preach “alternate energy” with infatuate zeal knowing full well how ludicrous their delusions are on the public, while the public’s pathetic meatballism turns the rhetoric into endless and complicit subsidizing for farmers and energy companies. Jeez, how do we wake these people up?!

RICHARDSON AND MATTHEWS HIGH ON OBAMA

Democrats still don’t realize that Obama is pissing down their backs and telling them it’s raining.

In an apparent case of “which way is the wind blowing,” New Mexico governor and two-time Clinton Cabinet appointee, Bill Richardson, threw his support to Obama.

I’m listening to Obama’s speech accepting Bill Richardson’s endorsement as I write this and what can I say…disgusting…laughable? It’s creepy that he can scare up that much of an audience without saying a damn thing! It speaks powerfully to the dunce-factor of the American people.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"The passport files of Obama, McCain and Clinton breached.” So what? There’s nothing in those files that I can’t get for twenty bucks on the internet.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MSNBC resident girly-man, Chris Matthews’ man crush on Obama continues. We all remember Chris gushing how he gets a thrill up his leg when listening to Obama. After Barack’s speech on race the other day, Chris declared that it was better than any Lincoln ever delivered. He went on to infer the thing should be required student reading. Then today, after Obama gave his speech accepting Bill Richardson’s endorsement, Chris had this to say: “…I loved the speech by Barack Obama. I get emotional when I watch these, I mean, he gets to me. I think his statement as an American is extraordinary, it's powerful, and it's so necessary…And some of us are amazingly taken by that kind of message….” Whoa, how’s the leg, Chris?!

NOT SURE HOW GREAT BARACK IS? ASK HIM

If you have any doubt Barack Obama is full of himself -- Not teetering on arrogant, but arrogant! – read the following Obama quotes reflecting how he views himself, as plucked out of a column today written by AP writer Ron Fournier.

The freshman senator told reporters in July that he would overcome Hillary Rodham Clinton's lead in the polls because "To know me is to love me."

"Every place is Barack Obama country once Barack Obama's been there."
He told supporters in January that by the time he was done speaking "a light will shine down from somewhere."

"It will light upon you," he continued. "You will experience an epiphany. And you will say to yourself, I have to vote for Barack. I have to do it."

Then he disappointed us with; "I am an imperfect vessel for your hopes and dreams."

His wife Michelle warned that we will only get one chance to elect him. She then said, “Barack is one of the smartest people you will ever encounter who will deign to enter this messy thing called politics,"

Then Barack lets us down profoundly when he confesses with humility; "I'm reminded every day that I'm not a perfect man.”

I SHIT YOU NOT!

HILLARY FINALLY GETTING CAUGHT IN LIES

Hillary told CNN, “I helped bring peace to Northern Ireland.”

Nobel Peace Prize winner and former First Minister of Lisnagarvey Province there, said her claim is “a wee bit silly.”

According to the Telegraph.co.uk., negotiators from the parties that helped broker the Good Friday Agreement in 1998 said she played no part in the grueling political talks over the years.

"I remember a meeting that I pulled together in Belfast, in the town hall there, bringing together for the first time Catholics and Protestants…sitting in a room where they had never been before with each other…because I really asked them to come that they were there,” says Mrs. Clinton.

There is no record of a meeting at Belfast City Hall, though Mrs. Clinton attended a ceremony there when her husband turned on the Christmas tree lights in November 1995.

The "Belfast Telegraph" reported the next day that the café meeting was crammed with reporters, cameramen and Secret Service agents. Conversation "seemed a little bit stilted, a little prepared at times" and Mrs. Clinton admired a stainless steel tea pot, which was duly given to her, for keeping the brew "so nice and hot".

Quite a different telling of events, don’t you think?

Reminds me of the story [Clinton confidant and advisor] Dick Morris tells about Hillary running into Sir Edmund Hillary, the first man to scale Mount Everest, at an airport in Katmandu. She told him a fluffy story of how she was named after him. Problem is that Hillary was born five and a half years before Sir Edmund made the climb – when he was an unknown beekeeper in New Zealand.

Yeah, I’d trust her as my President!

Ps. What's the big shocker about Eliot Spitzer? He's been screwing Wall Street and the people of New York for years!

DESPITE TUESDAY - NOT LIKELY HILLARY CAN WIN WITH CURRENT DELEGATE TREND

On the most recent “Super Tuesday,” as the press insists on calling it (or is it Super Duper Tuesday?), Hillary won three contests out of four (Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island) and Barack won Vermont for a total delegate gain of 185 for Clinton and 173 for Obama.

The following delegate count is based on AP estimates:

Number of delegates needed to win the Democrat presidential nomination: 2025

Current number of delegates:

Obama: 1360-Pledged; 207-Super; 1567-Total; 458-Needed to Win
Clinton: 1220-Pledged; 242-Super; 1462-Total; 563-Needed to Win
Available: 611-Pledged 346-Super

Hillary will need to win 92% of the remaining pledged delegates by primary or caucus to secure the nomination. Not likely to happen. Barack will have to win 75%. A tall order also.

Judging by the results of Tuesday’s primaries, playing the victim obviously is helping Hillary make some headway. She’s the victim the press picks on; she’s the victim who gets asked the first question during the debates; she’s the victim who has it harder because she’s a woman; she’s the victim of her husband’s presidential politics, but at the same time wants to be the benefactor of same.

On the other hand, a little karma seems to be sneaking up on Obama. After the now infamous Saturday Night Live skit that made fun of the presumed, if not obvious, media bias toward him, I think the Democrat electorate might be waking from their stupor to notice that Barack has basically said nothing this entire campaign. The one press conference a few days ago where he was actually asked a couple of tough questions, he walked away from. Hey, I’m not the only one who noticed the cowardice of that moment.

Barack Obama has told us absolutely nothing since hitting the campaign trail. Nothing, by the way, is only slightly less than Hillary has offered. Unless you call the words “Change, Hope” or “Future” substantive, you’ve really got nothing to hang on to. Change in what, Presidents? Well that will happen anyway. Hope for what, change? Future of what, where, America? That’s going to show up anyway. And if you’re hoping for one of his or Hillary’s many give-a-ways, get to the back of the loser line.

And Hillary’s told so many lies that reporting what we know will require several more columns.

Why do the Democrat candidates portray everyone they court, including themselves, as “victims?” They continue to tell the American people that their government should do everything for them, give everything to them and relieve them from every manner of responsibility.

Hey, you… yeah, you! If you think the people who want to work in this country are willing or able to pay for every one of the fat-ass needs and wants of all of you who don’t want to work, forget it. This country was founded on some damn solid principals and capitalism works quite well with our Constitution.

Be a man, be a woman, be an American…Just step up and quit being a victim!

Universal health care, anyone? Not going to happen. Not in a country of over 300 million folks living next door to such a terrible case of nationalized health care as Canada suffers from. Go try Canada’s or better yet, Cuba’s system…especially if you’ve paid Michael Moore any of your hard earned, or ill gotten, cash for one of his propaganda films.

THE GALL OF MICHELLE OBAMA

Michelle Obama told a group of women in Zanesville, Oh, where Muskingum County household incomes average little more than $37,000 per year, that they should forgo or give up corporate jobs in favor of community service. Like she and her heroic husband did.

Mrs. Obama had the audacity, the cheek if you will, to complain to these people of Midwestern America, about the “sacrifices” she and Barak have made to go to work in the community service trades – US Senator, Vice Presidency of a university hospital -- you know, like that.

She sang the virtues of going into the “helping” occupations like teaching; social work; nursing. And I guess she would include the US Senate, vice president of community affairs at the University of Chicago Hospital, and other interests where “the sacrifices are great.”

In fact she had to sacrifice the $121,910 salary she earned from the U of C Hospital before her husband became Senator from Illinois, in return for a paltry $316,962 (That’s right, that’s no typo ) after he became Senator according to the Chicago Tribune. And yet she complains that these salaries just didn’t keep up with the cost of paying their student debt.

She also complained that had Barak not written two best selling books, they would have been paying on her student loan into their 40s. Poor thing, she suffered the agony of attending Princeton and Harvard Universities and still having to pay her student loans.

She apparently assumes that like her, these women in her audience also serve on several corporate boards. Then she had the chutzpah to groan about the money she spends on her two children for stuff like piano and dance lessons. She apparently pays the equivalent of a third of these ladies’s average income for these “necessary” expenses, according to National Review Online.

On top of the aforementioned, according to NRO she said; "Everywhere I go, no matter what, the women in the audience, their first question for me is, 'How on earth are you managing it, how are you keeping it all together?'"

What an out-of-touch twit!

Yet I can picture the throngs of dimwitted Democrat women (and men), arms outstretched, bowing to her, ala Wayne and Garth of Wayne’s World in the presence of Alice Cooper.

Amazing listening to all the bitching about the price of grains and other agricultural products in the country and indeed, around the globe. And you know the people who are complaining about the increasing price of foodstuffs are the same people who crow – quite ignorantly – about oil prices. They are the same folks screaming for ethanol and buying all the crap their politicians and presidential contestants are promising. Ethanol = politics = more and more agricultural subsidies = increased corn production = subsidized corn surpluses = storage costs = storage subsidies = lower wheat and other grain production = higher prices = higher feed prices = higher meat and dairy prices, etc., etc. = …higher oil prices?

DEM DEBATE - CHANGE AND PROMISE?

I settled in the other night to listen to the 19th Democrat presidential debate for the sheer entertainment of it. As far as entertainment value, I wasn’t disappointed.

For my part, it was an exercise in curiosity for how many promises I would hear. Although I couldn’t possibly type fast enough to get every one of them on paper, I managed to catch a few.

I have to assume anyone reading this is also here for the entertainment value and appreciate the sarcasm with which I post these promises. Presumably no one reading this takes these people seriously, except on the tragic face that there are many, many people who do believe this nonsense…and will vote for one of these sleazes.

Any thinking person will recognize the loony and empty rhetoric. Yet the candidates went on for 90 minutes with this drivel.

Here’s part of what they promised you and me, the American people:

Obama: Fairness ; balance; leadership; hope; future; cut taxes to middle class Americans; $1,000 tax cut; look at trade not from the lens of Wall Street, but main street; create a green economy -- investing billions in solar, wind and bio-diesel; put people back to work; move change forward.

Clinton: Rid the tax code of loopholes; not give a penny to anyone who “ships” a job to another country; the wealthy class has had a president for the last seven years, it’s time for you to have a president; tougher standards for imports; crack-down on the abusive practices of the lenders; moratorium for 90 days on people losing their homes; clean, green jobs – with a 5 billion dollar “investment”; not enough roads to handle congestion -- rebuild American; end W’s “war on science.”

JD: There seamed to be a whole lot of applause for seemingly nothing. A lot of halleluiahs from the crowd on any and every key word and empty promising phrase.
Gosh, you sure don’t have to say much to get applause at these events!

Clinton: “I do not want two classes of citizens in this country, I want everyone to prosper.”

JD: This is from a candidate for the Democrat Part. The Party that make class warfare their chief business!

Obama: Every student should learn a second language … so Spanish speaking students can learn in their own language.

Obama – “Focus on solutions.” JD: Something the Democrat Party is not exactly known for.

Obama: $4,000 tuition credit per student.

Clinton – Tax credits, affordable tuition, free healthcare, secure retirement.

Scary, isn’t it? Sounds like Utopia for people who don’t want to work. A freakin’ nightmare for those of us who do!

NIU - "GUN FREE ZONE"

Another horribly successful school shooting because the school was a “gun free zone.”

A gunman fires at least 54 rounds into a crowd at Northern Illinois University, pausing to reload his guns, as pandemonium engulfs a lecture hall.

At what point do our country and its 513,000 elected officials wise up to the fact that slogans do not a safe country make? Time and time and time again, students and other citizens are forced to watch, panic-stricken, as some disturbed whack-job systematically – often randomly – picks off victim after victim after victim.

Once again, our shooter was apparently the only one in the room who did not read the “gun free zone” sign.

At what point do we stop making law-abiding, licensed citizens check their guns at the door when entering public arenas; be they schools, stadiums, post offices.

Consider this:

In Michigan, as well as 20 other states where gun restrictions have been eased in favor of a “right to carry”, violent crime has actually fallen.

Crime statistics show violent crime in Michigan has decreased since a law was passed in 2001 allowing law-abiding citizens to carry guns. The number of people licensed to carry concealed weapons has increased by six fold since the law was passed.

Yet the al-Qaeda-Needs-a-Hug crowd will use this most recent heart-wrenching incident as a rallying point to tighten gun control and to try and lead the lesser informed among us into thinking that this is just another instance of gun owners gone wild.

More guns, more violence?

In an article appearing in the Detroit Free Press in January, John Lott, a visiting professor at the University of Maryland who has done extensive research on the role of firearms in American society, said academic studies of concealed weapons laws that generally allow citizens to obtain permits have shown different results. About two-thirds of the studies suggest the laws reduce crime; the rest show no net effect, he said.

But facts never stymie the anti-gun rhetoric typically spewed from the left.

Shikha Hamilton of Grosse Pointe, president of the Michigan chapter of the anti-gun group Million Moms March, said she believes overall gun violence (including suicide and accidental shootings) is up in Michigan since 2001. Wow! Hey, if that’s what she says, it must be true!

So, I guess, if the facts don’t support your position, you just refute them and make up your own facts. Oy!

Another fact is, if some in the unfortunate crowd in Cole Hall at Northern Illinois University were allowed to carry their firearms, or if faculty were armed, this shooting like so many others, could have been severely limited.

Yet no one was armed. After all, it’s a “gun free zone.”

PELOSI SAYS "SURGE UNSUCCESSFUL" -- AL QEADA BEGS TO DIFFER

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said twice Sunday that Iraq “is a failure,” adding that President Bush’s troop surge has “not produced the desired effect."

CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer asked: “Are you not worried, though, that all the gains that have been achieved over the past year might be lost?”

“There haven't been gains, Wolf,” the speaker replied. “The gains have not produced the desired effect, which is the reconciliation of Iraq. This is a failure. This is a failure. “

Yet according to Abu-Tariq, Iraq al-Qeada leader and emir of the al-Layin and al-Mashahdah sector, the terrorist group’s security structure suffered “total collapse.”

Abu-Tariq also stated in a letter that Iraqi al-Qeada faces an “extraordinary crises”, saying that last year’s mass defections of Sunnis from al-Qeada to the US military “created panic, fear and the unwillingness to fight.”

The letter further conceded that the “crusaders” – Americans — had gained the upper hand.

- Not quite like Ms. Pelosi says.
